Experiment 1- Salt Water Crystals
Second class enjoyed watching salt crystals form. When they stirred the salt into warm water it dissolved. It looked like it had disappeared but it mixed with the water to form a solution.
When the salty solution was left in a warm place ( we left ours on a windowsill ) the water evaporated leaving behind salt crystals. The class added varied amounts of salt to each cup but kept the amount of water the same to see which combination worked best. They found that cup 3 which contained 3 teaspoons of salt produced the best salt crystals.
Experiment 2- The Water Cycle
Second class learned a song to remember the water cycle and then carried out an experiement.
Water from a little puddle
Turns to gas, EVAPORATION
Gas forms into puffy clouds, CONDENSATION
The clouds get heavy and the rain pours down PERCIPITATION, forming puddles on the ground.
Oh!the water cycle round and round.
Vapour goes up and the rain goes down.
Water in the sky, in the ocean in the ground.
It’s all in a cycle going round and round.
