Good morning,

I have organised a Google Meet today at 11am and 11:45am. Please check your email after 9am to see if you are on today. Please have your Maths and Irish books with you. Remember a parent/guardian must be present with you.

Here is today's work.

Maths:

Busy at Maths page 108 Q7and Q8, page 109 Q1-Q3. I would like to see Maths today please.

Q7. You have to find the cost of three items.
You must divide the price by the number of items in the pack to find the price of one item and multiply it by 3 to get the cost of 3 items.
Q8. (i) subtraction (ii) division.

Q1-Q3 You must estimate first before finding the answer. When estimating you must use the information we have to help us. In this case we round the cents to the nearest euro to estimate so for Q1. €1.86 rounds to €2. Estimate the answer first and then work out the actual cost of the item.

Master your Maths- page 48-Week 22-Tuesday.
Hints:

Q7 0.25 is the same as 1/4 so you are finding 1/4 of 80.

Q8. 7/10 of an hour is 7/10 of 60minutes.

Q12. This is a division sum.

Q13-16 Read each question carefully.

Ms. Collins Maths Group:

Busy At Maths – Q7 and Q8, p108 also Q1 – Q3, p109

Q7 – Use division to find the cost of one item and then you need to multiply your answer by 3.

Q8 – Read the question carefully to see what you have to do first.

Estimating – Here I want you to estimate using your euros. We round the cents to the nearest euro. So if the price is €1.62 round to the nearest euro in this case 2 euro, if it was €1.35 we round to 1 euro.

Q1 -3 We estimate first and then get the actual cost.

Master Your Maths – Week 22, Tuesday p48

Hint:

Q3 – Remember 1m = 100cm. This will help to work out 1¼ m.

Q4 – We need to simplify our fractions by dividing the same number into the top and the bottom, to make them smaller. I will put up a video to explain this or you can use your fraction wall.

Q7 – 0.25 is the decimal name for a quarter. What is a ¼ of 80?

Q8 – 1 hour = 60 minutes. 7/10 of an hour means we are finding 7/10 of 60 minutes.

Q9 – There are two parts – you add what he spent and then find what is left by subtracting from 1.00.

Q11 – You can use your fraction wall for this question.

Q12 – Write 72/10 as a decimal fraction. This is a division sum.

Q13 – 16 Be careful to check the dates you are using.
